Principle

Formaldehyde oxime spectrophotometry. After the water sample is digested, under alkaline conditions, the divalent manganese ions in the water sample are oxidized by dissolved oxygen to tetravalent manganese ions, which react with the developer to form a reddish-brown complex. The color change is proportional to the manganese content in the sample solution. The absorbance is detected at a specific wavelength, and the manganese concentration in the water sample is calculated.
