Groundwater is extracted from underground aquifers and its quality depends on the mineralization and geological structure of the infiltration. Thus, water flowing through sandy and granitic soils is usually acidic and contains fewer minerals. When water flows through limestone soils, the water is usually harder and more alkaline in hydrocarbons.

In addition, groundwater is characterized by

- Low turbidity.

- Relatively stable temperature and chemical composition.

- Contains a variety of dissolved minerals, primarily iron, manganese, calcium, magnesium, and fluoride.

- Pathogens may be present.

So the need for treatment methods depends on: water supply demand, water use standards, groundwater source characteristics, natural conditions, socio-economic conditions, etc. and testing of treated groundwater.
