The PCM300‑TP Total Phosphorus Water Quality Online Automatic Monitor adopts the ammonium molybdate spectrophotometry principle. The sample is digested with potassium persulfate, converting all phosphorus components in the water sample into orthophosphate. In an acidic medium, orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate to form phosphomolybdate heteropoly acid in the presence of antimony salt. This compound is immediately reduced by ascorbic acid to form a blue complex, whose absorbance is directly proportional to the total phosphorus concentration.
